After years of writing websites for our own campaigns and projects, a few years ago we decided it was time Footprint Workers Co-op offered web design services professionally. Additionally, to enable us to do this as smoothly as possible we have bought ourselves server space so we can also host the pages for you.

We design our sites using a 'content management system' called Joomla. By using Joomla we're able to quickly create good looking websites with many advanced features that, once created, you should have no trouble in keeping updated yourself, thus saving you time and money.

Search Engine Optimisation

For the vast majority of websites it is vitally important to get a good position in Google and the other search engines. After all, there is no point in spending the time and money on a website if no one ever sees it. If we design your whole site we will do so in such a way that will maximise its chances of a good ranking on key phrases. Once the site is live, for an additional fee, we will tweak its content and help boost its rating over a 3 month period. Depending on the keywords chosen, we can often anticipate front page ranking on Google for key phrases that will bring people to your site.

The cost will be about 4-6 phrases for £50. We will come to an arrangement beforehand on how our success will be monitored. If you want to see how good we are try typing 'Footprint' into Google . As of the time of writing (June 2011) there are 55,900,000 results. We're number three.

Web Hosting from £35 per year

We currently host about 45 different websites for co-operatives, conventional small businesses, campaign groups, bands, artists, community groups and personal blogs.

We don't just host new sites - as we're cheaper than lots of other places, people can transfer existing sites over to us. It may well be easier than you think.

It's reliable

Since moving to our new servers in 2008, most months we experience 100% reliability. On the occasional month where we do notice an outage (we have a program that checks every 30 minutes) we have never suffered more than 30 minutes down time in any one month, giving us over 99% reliability.

It's easy to use

When you sign up for web space with Footprint you get your own control panel. This enables you to set up as many e-mail addresses as you want as well as subdomains, MySQL databases, ftp logins, email lists etc.

It's cheap

For £35 a year you get 500mb of disk space and 5gb a month of bandwidth which is more than enough for most small companies or campaigns.

For £60 a year you get 2gb of disk space and 10gb of bandwidth and the ability to host 5 different websites within your space using addon domains.
